Register/Investment migration

Investment migration

The rule of each jurisdiction where buying a residence can bear on a passport or a residence permit — and of those where it cannot.

42 jurisdictions are sourced, each with the date its rule was checked. The register publishes the rule and, on every record, the facts the rule turns on — entry price in local currency, seller, and, where the rule distinguishes them, first sale, fractional sale, construction status, tenure — each dated and sourced. It does not say whether any purchase qualifies. Eligibility attaches to a sale, not to a building: where a rule counts only a developer’s first sale, the same building answers differently for its first buyer and its next. The register is not immigration counsel. Where sources disagree, the page says so rather than choosing.

Five-year renewable residence for one property, valued by the Department of Land and Survey and held five years without sale or mortgage: JOD 200,000 from a developer or housing company, JOD 300,000 from any other seller, JOD 150,000 outside the Capital Governorate with no developer requirement (thresholds of July 2026).

Citizenship is reserved for productive investment — new projects, share purchases, job creation — from about JOD 500,000; real estate does not qualify. Framework in force 2 July 2025, reviewed every six months.

Under Lex Koller (1983) a buyer resident abroad may acquire only a holiday home in a designated tourist area, against a national ceiling of about 1,500 permits a year; a B-permit resident may buy a primary residence where they live. A draft revision published in April 2026 would tighten the law further.

Buying a home in the United States confers no immigration status. The EB-5 immigrant investor programme requires USD 1,050,000 (USD 800,000 in a targeted employment area) in a business creating ten full-time jobs; a residential purchase is a passive investment and does not qualify. First inflation adjustment of the EB-5 amounts scheduled for 1 January 2027.

Development Support Programme: USD 130,000 for a single applicant, USD 180,000 for a family of four; the Capital Investment Immigration Plan adds a redeemable element of about USD 50,000. No residence requirement.

Buying property confers nothing. One agent markets a 'real estate' route that is, by its own description, a non-recoverable contribution to an approved project with no ownership rights in the property — real estate in name only.

The EU suspended Vanuatu's visa waiver and then withdrew it permanently on 12 December 2024 (Regulation (EU) 2025/11), citing the programme itself.

Where the sources disagree: The suspension is dated March 2022 by one source, 2022 by others, and as applying from 4 February 2023 by another — decision against application.

Vietnamese law separates ownership from residence entirely; a purchase creates no residence right. Foreigners may own apartments only in approved projects, capped at 30% of a building's units, for 50 years renewable.
