Fairmont Residences Century Plaza
Century City, Los Angeles. Fairmont. Sixty-three homes on top of Yamasaki's 1966 hotel, saved and restored.
Homes above a hotel that was nearly lost. Minoru Yamasaki's crescent-shaped Century Plaza of 1966 — where Reagan celebrated re-election and Apollo astronauts were feted — was restored as the Fairmont Century Plaza in 2021 with 63 condominiums on its upper floors, interiors by Yabu Pushelberg, within a USD 2.5 billion redevelopment of the block.
The building sells and lets the same homes: the hotel's own page offers hotel-serviced residences on leases of six months or more, beside the condominiums sold outright. Its neighbour, the St Regis tower of the same complex, was demolished in the 2000s for a Robert A.M. Stern condominium — the same block has now produced three generations of branded living.
Who it is not for
Not for a buyer who wants a new building: the structure is sixty years old, however thoroughly restored.
