Bvlgari Resort & Residences Dubai
Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Bvlgari. Apartments, penthouses and mansions on a made island three hundred metres off Jumeirah.
Jumeira Bay is not one development and the register has been recording it as one. Meraas and Bulgari have built at least four separately named residential products on the same island: the original Resort & Residences, the Bulgari Lighthouse tower, the Marina Lofts and the Ocean Mansions. Under this register's own definition — one named project at one address — each is a development, and three of them were missing. They were added the day this record was verified.
The island itself is the product. Three hundred metres offshore, reached by a single causeway, 1.7 million square feet of resort, a marina with over fifty berths and a yacht club. ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel drew all of it — hotel, residences, mansions and the new tower — which is unusual: most branded resorts of this size pass through three or four practices.
The counts do not agree. Apartments are given as 165, 168 and 173 across five sources; penthouses as six and as eight; hotel rooms as 100 and 101. Mansions are consistently fifteen. The register carries the spread and the one figure everyone agrees on.
Who it is not for
Not for a buyer who wants the mainland: one causeway in, one out, and everything urban is a drive. Not for anyone who wants privacy from other owners — the island is small, entirely built by one developer, and legible.
