28 Peak Road

Hong Kong. Unbranded. A billion-dollar house sold to pay a private loan.

Editorial entry · sources recorded · property confirmation pending

Distress at the very top of the market, documented street by street. About HK$1.05 billion in November 2024, from the Ho Shung-pun (何崇本) family to Zhansheng Network Technology, per official records cited by SCMP — part of a portfolio liquidation reported at HK$3 billion to repay a Gaw Capital private loan.

The same family sold 99, 101 and 103 Plantation Road for a combined HK$828 million shortly before. Four houses on two Peak roads, sold by one family in one cycle, for one reason. Read as separate transactions they are four data points; read together they are a balance sheet.

This is why the register keeps a Chain of Record rather than a price list: a sale that looks like a market signal is often a liquidity event, and only the sequence shows which.

Who it is not for

Not for a reader treating the price as demand: this was a forced disposal against a loan. Not for anyone assuming the buyer is a family — it is a company.
