A private estate of second homes with a hotel inside it. John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck's YOO, with The Raven Group, built glass-and-timber houses around six clear-water lakes near Lechlade, ninety minutes from London, with interiors by YOO Studio and by Jade Jagger and Kelly Hoppen for YOO; a spa, restaurant, sailing club and a small farm serve the owners, and a handful of houses are let to visitors. One reviewer calls it the Hamptons of the Cotswolds; its founder, by her account, calls it a posh commune.
The estate is 850 acres on its own site and 650 on the brand's, and the houses 'over 160' in a review against 165 in YOO's brochure. The register records 165 and both acreages. The research named it without a country.
Who it is not for
Not for a buyer who wants a village around them: the estate is deliberately self-contained.
