Aman Residences Tokyo

This is the first Aman address with no Aman hotel in it, and the register records that as the point. New York put residences above a hotel in the same building. Tokyo puts them at the top of somebody else's tower — Mori Building's Mori JP Tower, Japan's tallest residential building — with Aman as operator and nothing else of Aman on the premises.

A distinction worth stating plainly: this is not the Aman Tokyo hotel. That building stands in Otemachi and opened in 2014. Aman Residences, Tokyo is in Azabudai, a different district and a different structure entirely, and at least one published source conflates the two. Two Aman addresses in one city, and the register keeps them apart.

Ninety-one apartments occupy floors 54 to 64, each with a private entrance and a dedicated lift, interiors by Yabu Pushelberg. The tower sits in an eight-hectare masterplan by Heatherwick Studio with Pelli Clarke Pelli — thirty years in the making, which is the part of the story that explains the address rather than the apartments.
