The St. Regis Residences, Longboat Key
Longboat Key, United States. St. Regis. Sixty-nine condominiums on eight hundred feet of Gulf beachfront, where the Colony Beach Resort stood.
Three buildings in this register now stand on the ruins of an earlier hospitality business, and this is the third. The Colony Beach Resort was a Longboat Key institution; it failed, it was demolished, and Unicorp National Development put sixty-nine condominiums and a 166-room resort on the site. Auberge Beach at Fort Lauderdale and Rosewood Lido Key did the same to a hotel and a beach club respectively.
Three six-storey buildings, each with its own private entrance, residences on floors two to six, one to four bedrooms and penthouses from 1,556 to 5,320 square feet, on 1620 Gulf of Mexico Drive with eight hundred feet of beach.
Longboat Key and Lido Key are the same barrier chain off Sarasota, and the register now holds a branded residence on each — Rosewood on one, St. Regis on the other, both developed since 2021 on redeveloped resort sites. Neither key is in Brilliant Addresses.
Who it is not for
Not for a buyer who wants a settled community: this is a new building on a cleared site, and the market around it is being rebuilt at the same time. Not for anyone wanting a city — Sarasota is across the bay and the key is a road with water on both sides.
