Twenty homes and no more, on the floors above the 140-room West Hollywood EDITION at Sunset and Doheny: John Pawson drew both the building and the millwork, hardware and lighting inside it, to Ian Schrager's concept, for the developers Witkoff and New Valley. One to four bedrooms, 1,649 to 6,475 square feet, ceilings over ten feet, from USD 5.15 million at launch; resales have run to USD 9.85 million.
Pawson says he found the site in Ed Ruscha's photographs of every building on the Sunset Strip. The residents have their own entrance, driveway and pool above the hotel's. The research named it without a country; the atlas holds Los Angeles and not West Hollywood, so the register carries the city as its place and the strip in words.
