Homes in the tower that looks unfinished on purpose: King Power MahaNakhon, Ole Scheeren's 314-metre skyscraper whose glass skin is broken by a spiral of projecting 'pixels', holds 209 Ritz-Carlton residences on floors 23 to 73, completed in 2016 and priced from about THB 42 million to 500 million — among the highest prices asked in Thailand. Unlike most branded homes in Bangkok they are sold freehold.

The tower has changed hands and its hotel changed plans. Built by PACE Development, it now carries the name of its later owner, King Power; it was marketed with 'the world's first Orient-Express hotel' and opened with The Standard instead. The residences count 209 in the owner's account, 200 or 321 in listings.

Who it is not for

Not for a buyer seeking a low-rise, green setting: the residences sit in the middle of the central business district.
