Château de Bellerive
Collonge-Bellerive, Switzerland. Unbranded. A hundred and twenty-six million francs, in three transactions.
An assemblage, and the register records it as one. The Château de Bellerive estate — associated with the late Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan — was acquired by Dinara Kulibayeva across three separate transactions in 2019 for a combined CHF 126 million, given as about CHF 127 million after the final parcel.
A combined figure that exists only when the parts are read together is a different fact from a price. The same discipline applies to the three Indian Creek purchases totalling about USD 237 million and to the 60 Blossom Way parcels above USD 450 million. Read singly they are market data; read together they are one purchase.
The same buyer had acquired an estate on the Route d'Hermance at Anières for CHF 74.7 million in 2009 — from a seller who had reportedly paid about CHF 19 million four years earlier.
Who it is not for
Not for a reader taking CHF 126m as a house price: it bought an estate in three pieces. Not for anyone comparing with Geneva's annual tape — about eighty villa sales above CHF 5 million a year is the whole canton.
