Fifteen years on the market, and it sold. €46,500,000 in 2023, from the Emirati billionaire Mahdi al-Tajir to a French management company for renovation and resale. About 33,000 square feet, twenty rooms in Louis XVI style with Corinthian columns and stone sphinxes, by the architect of the Hôtel Meurice.
It is the register's second case of a very long exposure ending in a sale, after the De Benedetti villa at Suvretta which carried a CHF 52 million ask for eight years before it was paid. Together they close an argument the register was close to making: an unmet ask is not a dead one. Sometimes the market simply takes a decade.
The seller is named because he is a public figure and the sale was reported; the buyer is a company and the register names it as a company, which is where its rule stops.
Who it is not for
Not for a buyer who wants it finished: it sold to a developer for renovation and resale, and the next number will be a different product. Not for anyone reading fifteen years as failure — the price held.
